Yeah this was disproved a while ago, and a big urban legend. They ran out of funding mid-construction, so they couldn't dig out the lake or clocktower.

If you wanted people to vote you should have brought upon the various propositions supported by Bill Clinton as well as the opposing oppositions to provide the audience a balanced view of the decisions that can be made.

Honestly, that's what I call a cool story bro. Such a riveting tale, I honestly copy and pasted it to word, saved on my hard drive, backed it up on a jump drive, drove to the bank, put the jump drive in the safe deposit box, and will leave it there until my kids turn about 12 (when they can actually state their age, and ask what it is I'm showing them), when I will pick it up, put it in an old USB drive reader and relay this cool story to them and tell them, "kids, this is what a cool story should look and sound like...not like the stories your generation tells.

give me a better article. did you attend the event at all? if so did you pay attention to anything he said?

very bland, content less article. all it does here is inform who. state a concrete why, how, and what. Bill Clinton is an intelligent man who possesses incredible weight in his words. Tie this into various themes and current events. Even past events. Either this severely censored or there are heavy censorship rules. Or it could be that the author himself did not put in the time nor research. I want to give the benefit of the doubt that there are still philosophical and intellectual writers out there still. And yes, I suspect this comment will be deleted by a moderator soon. But hey, to those who see this will agree that the article written is weak.

How is the adjective "cool" in any sense a high regarded descriptive text that reflects the high academia standards this University seeks to embody? Are you serious? It is already implied. Every reader will of course already be enticed and have the thought of a previous President of the U.S. come speak as something noteworthy. Can you give me a "cool" and informative yet relative article? Not only does this article does not do the man any great justice but also neglects the content and reasons for his presence as well as the actors in the funding of the event. Tell me the purpose. Not your low valued intellectual description.

This article is something a high school, no, even a middle school student can come up with.

Also I can tell this article was rushed. In the journalism world you prepare multiple articles predicting the different outcomes and reactions by the audience at LEAST a day prior to the event. That way whatever actually happens, you alrady have a template with some content. All you need to do is fill in some missing pieces. This is journalism 101.

The ticket office said that people will be lining up Tuesday morning to get in. You can't buy tickets either and no guarantee of entry.

Almost all of this information is incorrect. The "tunnels" you talk about in the article with Graffiti are just rain water/waste water streams. The actual tunnels, the ones that do run under campus and connect buildings, is under lock and key. You cannot enter them without a guide (and tours are very rare) They are entrances, (such as the star in the Humanities Plaza) but they're locked tight. Not to mention there are motion sensor within the tunnels to catch urban spelunkers.

The notion that UCI was built to discourage protests is also false. The famous protest of the 60s occured either after, or during construction of the school. It takes years to plan something like this, so the protests weren't factored in. Brutalism was just the style chosen by the architects.

The tunnels serve a much benign purpose. They are there to connect the buildings to the Central Plant, the water and power plant just off campus. The plant provides electricity and steam to the buildings, and does so with the tunnels. Since there is steam and electricity running through the tunnels, it is not safe (not to mention there are experiments going on there, as well as what's called "confined spaces") to enter. avoid anything in the math/engineering areas. Not trying to be racist, but chinese (as in from china - not chinese american) men are gross in bathrooms, and there are high concentrations of them in math and engineering.
